The DiGiCo S21 is a compact 96 kHz digital mixing console with 48 mono or stereo Flexi input channels, 16 mono or stereo Flexi aux/group buses, a stereo master bus and a 10 × 8 processing matrix.
Controls and processing
The surface has two 10-inch multi-touch screens and 21 touch-sensitive motorised faders. Each input channel and bus includes EQ and dynamics, with assignable graphic EQ, effects, dynamic EQ, multiband compression and DiGiTuBe processing available across the console.
Local and remote I/O
The rear panel provides 24 local mic/line inputs, 12 analogue outputs, two mono AES/EBU inputs and outputs, word clock, and two DMI expansion slots. A DMI card can add formats such as Dante, MADI or Waves SoundGrid, but those connections are optional rather than built into every S21.
The console supports up to 48 channels of USB audio for recording and playback. Remote stage racks can be added through the appropriate DMI interface; compatible options include DiGiCo D-Rack, D2-Rack, SD-Rack and related S-Series racks.
Planning the hire
The desk measures 763 × 586 × 295 mm and weighs 19 kg outside its flight case. Allow space for the case, rear connectors, a reliable mains supply and any external computer or network hardware.
A console-only hire provides 24 local microphone inputs. Jobs requiring more inputs, remote preamps or a digital multicore need the correct DMI card, stage rack and cabling on the order. Show files should be prepared for the installed software version and checked on the hire desk before the event.
