The Epson EB-PU1008B is an 8,500-lumen 3LCD laser installation projector with native WUXGA resolution and Epson 4K Enhancement. It is not a native 4K projector: the enhancement system shifts pixels to display more on-screen detail from compatible sources.
Lens and image planning
Epson sells the projector body without a standard lens. The correct interchangeable lens must therefore be selected for the screen size, image width and measured throw distance. Supported options range from ultra-short-throw to long-throw lenses, with available throw ratios depending on the lens.
Brightness is rated at 8,500 lumens for both white and colour light output in normal mode, falling to 5,950 lumens in economy mode. Actual usable brightness depends on the selected lens, zoom position, image size, ambient light, screen surface and calibration.
Connections and installation
Inputs include HDMI, HDBaseT, DVI-D and VGA. Network and RS-232 control are available, with optional wireless networking. This model does not list 3G-SDI, so productions needing SDI should provide a suitable converter or choose another projector.
The body measures 545 × 436 × 189 mm and weighs 16.3 kg without a lens. Use an Epson-approved mount or correctly rated rental frame, all specified fixing points and a suitable secondary safety. Rigging must be carried out by a competent person.
