The EM Acoustics EMS-81X is a compact passive two-way loudspeaker with one 8-inch neodymium low-frequency driver and a 1-inch-exit neodymium compression driver. It requires an external amplifier; the two rear speakON NL4 connectors carry the amplified signal and provide link-through to another cabinet.
Coverage and output
EM Acoustics specifies a 75 Hz–20 kHz frequency response, 120 dB continuous output and 126 dB peak. Nominal coverage is 90° horizontal by 60° vertical. The waveguide can be rotated when the cabinet is used horizontally, allowing the coverage pattern to remain correctly orientated.
Power handling is 250 W RMS/500 W programme at 8 ohms. Use suitable system processing and amplifier limiting rather than treating those figures as amplifier recommendations on their own. For applications needing more output below 75 Hz, add an appropriate subwoofer; EM Acoustics identifies the S-12 and S-15 as suitable companions.
Mounting and transport
The EMS-81X weighs 13 kg and has a 35 mm pole socket. It also supports compatible mounting brackets for fixed or suspended use. Any flown installation must use the manufacturer-approved hardware and be designed and installed by a competent person.
Our cabinets travel in protective flight cases. Stands, brackets, amplifier racks, subwoofers and cables are separate hire items, so the package can be matched to the job.
Amplification and cabling
We can supply EM Acoustics DQ-series amplification with the correct loudspeaker presets, either loose or built into a rack. NL4 cable runs are available in several lengths, with short links where cabinets share an amplifier channel. The number of cabinets per channel must stay within the manufacturer’s amplifier-loading guidance.
