EM Acoustics HALO-B line-array hire

A passive two-way line-array element with dual 8-inch LF drivers, 110° horizontal coverage and external DSP amplification.

EM Acoustics Halo B

EM Acoustics HALO-B is a passive, two-way medium-format line-array element. It needs external amplification and DSP; the cabinet itself has no mains input or built-in amplifier.

Drivers and performance

Each enclosure uses two 8-inch neodymium low-frequency drivers and four 1-inch-exit high-frequency drivers on EM Acoustics’ plane-wave manifold. The manufacturer specifies a 65 Hz–20 kHz frequency response, 110° horizontal dispersion and maximum output of 135 dB continuous or 141 dB peak. Vertical coverage depends on the array size and splay angles rather than a single cabinet figure.

The LF section is rated at 600 W RMS/1,200 W programme into 8 ohms. The HF section is rated at 140 W RMS/280 W programme into 16 ohms. HALO-B uses an external active crossover, so it must be driven with the correct amplifier channels, processing and presets.

Amplification and cabling

We normally pair HALO-B with EM Acoustics DQ-series amplification and processing. The manufacturer lists the DQ20 as capable of driving up to eight HALO-B enclosures at full output, but the final channel allocation depends on the array and system design.

Two Neutrik speakON NLT4MP connectors provide input and link-through. We hire short NL4 links for adjacent cabinets and longer 10 m or 20 m runs back to the amplifier rack. Tell us the box count and cable route so we can specify the correct amplifier channels and cable lengths.

Rigging and transport

A HALO-B cabinet measures 262 × 772 × 464 mm and weighs 29 kg. Its three-point rigging system supports splay angles from 0.25° to 10°, depending on the selected position. EM Acoustics lists both the FG-HALO-B master grid and CG-HALO-B compact grid as compatible accessories.

Flying and ground-stacking arrangements must be designed from the manufacturer’s load data by a competent person. The grid, pins, suspension hardware and any secondary safety equipment should be specified for the exact array rather than assumed to be included with each cabinet.

What to tell us

• Number of cabinets and whether the system will be flown or ground stacked.

• Venue dimensions, audience area and required coverage.

• Whether you need amplifiers, processing and a rack from us.

• Distance from the amplifier position to the first cabinet.

• Which flying or stacking hardware the design requires.

We can supply HALO-B cabinets in four-way flight cases with suitable amplification, NL4 cabling and array hardware as separate hire items.
