The JCB G40RS V is a 40 kVA three-phase diesel generator in a sound-attenuated canopy, designed to provide reliable temporary power for events, construction sites and industrial applications.
It measures 2265 mm × 1050 mm × 1574 mm and weighs over a tonne, so it must be delivered by vehicle and positioned using suitable lifting equipment or machinery. This isn’t something you wheel across a field because optimism got the better of engineering.
Generator specification
The G40RS V delivers 40 kVA of three-phase power from a 1500 rpm Stage V diesel engine, meeting the latest UK and European emissions standards for non-road mobile machinery.
Because this is a three-phase generator, the load should be balanced across all three phases wherever possible. Large single-phase loads and equipment with high starting currents, such as motors, pumps, compressors or HVAC equipment, should always be considered when sizing the generator.

Fuel, runtime and noise
The manufacturer’s quoted runtime is up to 19.5 hours, although actual runtime depends entirely on the connected load. A lightly loaded generator will run significantly longer than one operating close to full capacity.
For longer hires, we can discuss refuelling arrangements when you book.
The manufacturer quotes a noise level of 66 dB(A) for the acoustic canopy. As testing conditions aren’t specified, this should be treated as a reference figure rather than an expected on-site noise level.
Transport and access
The generator occupies a footprint of 2265 mm × 1050 mm and is 1574 mm high.
For transport and storage:
- Cannot be stacked
- Must remain upright during transport
- Requires mechanical handling for loading and positioning
It should be installed on firm, level ground with sufficient access for the delivery vehicle and lifting equipment. Narrow gateways, soft ground, steep slopes and steps can all affect installation, so let us know about any access restrictions when you enquire.

The generator is supplied as the generating set only.
Power distribution, generator cables and extension leads are hired separately to suit your installation.
