The Yamaha QL5 is a 48 kHz digital mixing console with 64 mono input channels, eight stereo input channels, 16 mix buses and eight matrices. Unlike the CL series, it combines substantial local I/O with built-in Dante networking.
Local and network I/O
The rear panel provides 32 analogue mic/line inputs and 16 analogue outputs. Built-in Dante carries up to 64 inputs and 64 outputs through primary and secondary ports, allowing the console to work with Yamaha Rio and other compatible Dante stage boxes.
The local sockets can cover many smaller jobs without a stage box. Larger systems, or systems that need remote preamps on stage, require the appropriate Dante I/O, network switches and cabling.
Control and recording
The surface has 32 channel faders plus two master faders. Channel processing, effects, graphic EQ, scenes and gain compensation are integrated. USB memory supports stereo recording, while multitrack recording over Dante requires a computer and Dante Virtual Soundcard or another suitable interface.
QL5 is discontinued but remains a practical hire console. Show files, firmware and stage-box versions should be checked together before use.
